How are laws made?

This session will cover the process of making legislation in UK Parliament in detail. Your students will track the passage of a real bill through both houses, followed by watching a panel of members of both Houses and a legislative clerk. The panel will discuss their experiences working with different types of legislation (public, private, hybrid), Private Members Bills and legislative committees – responding to questions submitted by you.

This will be a perfect revision session for 16+ politics groups, or an introduction to legislation for those studying Citizenship.

About Learn Live sessions

Learn Live is a fun, interactive approach to engage pupils with the work of the UK Parliament. Each session lasts around 30 minutes and is streamed on YouTube.

It’s up to you how many pupils, classes or year groups join in. Make sure your pupils can hear the session. All you need is a whiteboard with a reliable internet connection.
