Learn Live: Elizabeth Tower

This session will celebrate the return of the most famous tower in the UK: the Elizabeth Tower, home of Big Ben!

Over the last 5 years, the tower has been restored to it’s former glory by a team of hundreds of craftspeople from across the UK. This Learn Live session will cover:

  • A brief history of Westminster Palace and the tower
  • How the tower has become an iconic landmark of London and the UK
  • Behind-the-scenes insights and interviews with the restoration team
  • Insights into some of the incredible skills and crafts which have been part of the project

How does the event work?

Learn Live is a fun, interactive approach to engage pupils with the work of the UK Parliament. Each session is streamed on YouTube.  

Learn Live: Elizabeth Tower will be streamed at 2pm on 9th June. You will receive the link to the session by 10am on the day, and the session will be available for catch up after the event.  

All you need to take part is a screen connected to speakers, a reliable internet connection and access to YouTube. 

Who can take part?

This session is suitable for 10-14 year olds.

What's in it for my students?

This Learn Live will provide unique insights into the skills, crafts and professions involved in a major restoration project. It will also provide historical context for the iconic building, linking to the history curricula for KS2.
