Do you teach students aged 11-18? Help us gather lived experience from young people for this year’s Youth Select Committee inquiry.

We’re inviting teachers to join our online call for evidence session on Thursday 21st November 16:00-16:45.

The newly appointed 2024 Youth Select Committee is soon to launch an inquiry which Parliament staff will help Committee members to deliver. The inquiry will function much like a typical select committee inquiry with a call for evidence, oral evidence sessions and final report on the inquiry’s findings.

This year, the Youth Select Committee will be focussing on the issue of youth violence, and in this session we’ll explore how you can support your students to submit evidence to the inquiry by sharing their experiences.

The Clerks and Inquiry Managers will give an insight into the work of the Youth Select Committee, and we’ll be joined by Members of the Youth Select Committee to hear about their priorities for the next year. The event will finish with a Q&A session.

About the Youth Select Committee

The Youth Select Committee is an initiative run by the National Youth Agency and UK Parliament, and funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. The Committee comprises twelve young people, all aged between 14 and 18, appointed from the Youth Parliament, each member represents a region from the UK. The Youth Parliament was established in 1999 and is made up of over 300 elected young people. Young people vote for MYPs to represent their interests in the Youth Parliament, with elections held every two years usually taking place in schools.
