What are the prizes?

The first prize will be:

  • A winner’s day in London, including a meal at UK Parliament for each winner (with one accompanying adult per child)
  • A voucher for 2 adults and 2 children (aged 11-18) to visit the Elizabeth Tower, valid until 2028
  • A selection of Elizabeth Tower merchandise
  • Runners up in each category will win:

  • A selection of Elizabeth Tower merchandise
  • In addition, a selection of winning entries will be displayed in the UK Parliament Education Centre.

    How many prizes are available?

    One first prize is available for each individual category (aged 7-9 and 10-12). Up to 5 first prizes may be awarded for each group category (groups aged 7-9 and 10-12).

    The same number of runner-up prizes are available.

    My group of children are aged between 7 and 12, which category should they enter?

    Groups of mixed ages should enter the 10-12 category. Groups should not include young people over the age of 12.

    How will the competition be judged?

    The competition will be judged by the Education team at UK Parliament and members of the Elizabeth Tower Conservation team. Entries will be judged equally on the construction itself and on the accompanying explanation of why the materials and design were chosen.

    How will the photographs I submit be used?

    The submitted photographs will be used for judging purposes only unless you provide permission for UK Parliament to use them as part of promotional materials for this campaign.

    Winning entries may be displayed in the UK Parliament Education Centre, providing they are of high enough resolution.

    Will UK Parliament pay for travel to the winners day in London?

    UK Parliament will pay each winning child and one accompanying adult per child to travel to London from their home address via the most cost-effective reasonable public transport route.

    Do I have to keep the tower?

    No – please keep photographs of the tower (including photographs of the entrant/s with their tower if you’d be happy for them to be used by us) until the winners are announced in March 2023. However, you don’t need to keep the tower itself: we appreciate it might not last that long!
